ADABRAFI FRIENDS,
MADINAGUDA was not known to many in Hyderabad until one decade back and most from the other parts of the metropolis would not have gone that
far in many many years. However, over the last five years, Madinaguda has become a hub of residential and commercial activity - more because of its proximity to the IT industry in the nearby Madhapur, Kondapur and othe areas. The huge boulder-blocks abetting both sides of the new Bombay Road has given way to some maginficent residential complexes with all the amenities that a society would need to nurture. At was here that we had to assemble on this hot and humid Sunday yesterday and we made batches to reach the venue - the "HOME SWEET HOME" (as Namratha would say). I, Elias, R Padmanabhan and Sivaram reached Sreesha's hotel and started from there in his car. Sivaramakrishnan came on his own. Chakravarthy joined K V Sharma and they both reached N R Padmanabhan's house at Motinagar from where they proceeded on the remaining length of the great musical journey.
The Bhanothu family is indeed gifted. Music flows in each of their family members and has been abundantly patronized in generation after generation. Hospitality comes naturally to them as basically theirs is a very close-knit family. Balaji and Sailaja were very keen that we all assemble at their lovely and compact flat and had been eagerly looking forward to this get-together. We all too were keen that we go to their house and spend some quality time immersing ourselves in the golden music of yesteryears. If we missed anyone from their family it was the elder daughter Pallavi and the young boy Vamshi. All others in their big musical family were in attendance - mother of Balaji and Sirisha (the lady was our colleague in my Bank until a few years back), Seshu Babu, Prasun Kumar, Krishna Mohan, Aparna and Dhruv. The octogenarian mother of Balaji is a versatile music lover and her long innings with music of all genre would stand her in good stead at our Musical Session. She gave a perfect example of this by rendering two very soulful songs in Telugu. All the musical notes and nuances were intact and we were left spellbound by her renditions. She has much more to offer than her songs and love for music as we learnt from her that she had worked in various capacities with the State Government and her impeccable English would put her message across to all of us in such a simple manner. We also learn that she had worked ceaselessly for the downtrodden and had associated with the Communist Party and the movement for several years. We would be learning more of her in the coming days too.
Though we started quite late, we made it up by winding up our session equally late. We got to hear some very melodious songs and many lovely renditions from almost all our singers. The final audio arrangement (Balaji took a lot of interest in the proper working and was seen manually monitoring the audio system - throughout the period of the Session) was good enough for the output to have come out very well.
The day was also the Marriage Anniversary day of Krishna Mohan and Aparna (she is the daughter of A Sirisha and niece of Balaji) and to give our
musical session a befitting tribute, they not only stayed with us throughout, but also sange : AADHA HAI CHANDRAMA RAAT AADHRI, REH NA JAAYE TERI MERI BAAT AADHI. We, in turn, sang in unision BAAR BAAR DIN YE AAYE, BAAR BAAR DIL YE GAAYE : TU JIYE HAZARON SAAL YE MERI HAI AARZOO - HAAPY WEDDING ANNIVERSARY TO YOU !!!
I am enclosing only three photos of the Musical Session as I could not upload all in this mail. I will send some more in my next mail. There are
some video recordings also that I have taken and I will upload them on youtube soon and give you all the links for the same.
A perfect get-away for all of us from the blistering heat, our routine work and other occupations - the Musical Session at Madinaguda on 29th May
2011 will be remembered for a long long time by all of us who attended the same.
Thanks to the Bhanothu family, we all enjoyed the few hours splendidly. More on this in the coming days..........

Yes, it was marvellous indeed, totally into a different atmosphere than the regular sessions. Lots of new voices heard. Prasun Kumar was at his best in all the three songs he rendered. If I miss mentioning Iliyas, I would be doing injustice. As usual he was also at his best in the high pitch songs of Rafi saab.Mr.Sreesha was also superb in bringing Mukesh ji on Mic and Sailaja madam ofcourse, Lata.
In simple, we just forgot the scorching heat when once reached Balaji's sweet home. Really their hospitality, superb.
